I played two politically based games "click4Obama" and "Presidential Pong".
Presidential Pong is an persuasive game to teach you some of the "skills" or talents of the candidates for the presidential election, by having them compete in a simple game of Pong. The game allows you to be any of the 2008 presidential candidates. Basically you play the age old game of pong. I did not think the game was very persuasive besides the fact that you could use your candidate to hopefully beat the others. The game technically could be persuading people to get involved with the election.
The game "Click for Obama" teaches facts about American history and current political conditions. I think this game is both persuasive and educational. It is educational because you are learning the facts and playing the game gives "pixels" towards Obama's advertisements. By learning, players are actually supporting the democratic presidential candidate, Barak Obama. This clicking game is also a persuasive game, because it makes the player support Obama. Which the support and clicks help develop his campain.

I think political video games are a good tools used to catch the young audience. They present a modern and fun way to learn about politics and get involved without actually becoming an activist. People from the age range 18-24 don't show much interest for politics and games such as the candidate Pong can persuade these persons to get more invloved. These kinds of video games should be advertised more often so the young audience could know that there are other means of learning about politics than watching debates or party conventions on TV.
The ping pong game that is with the presidents is not persuasive at all. I played it and it did not have any impact on who I thought would be the better candidate for the presidency. I think the game was made just to inform the younger generation about who is running for president. The way the game is designed such as the graphics are geared toward the younger generation and to get them out to vote.
pong sounds like a good game. Voting is one of the most important things that most of the country doesn't take seriously. Anything that encourages voting has got to be a step in the right direction of getting people to express what they want to see happen to their country!
i agree, i believe political games really are a good tool to catch young audiences. It got me :)
I agree that tools like these should be used more often to get the attention of younger audiences. Yet there has to be a better way to compromise between the blatantly satirical and the boring educational games. I hope we can use feed back from this game to create better ads to get the younger generation involved in important issues such as politics.
I played both of these games and I agree with you for the most part. It was really unclear how Obama benefits from that game since it's a 3rd party doing it. They could take the money raised from the game as profit...who knows.
